Addressing Key Issues of HIV Disease in Michigan

Presenters:

Peter Gulick, DO, FACP, FACOI, FIDSA: Associate Professor of Medicine at Michigan State University, College of Osteopathic Medicine, and serves as adjunct faculty in the College of Human Medicine and the College of Nursing. He is Director of the MSU HIV/Hepatitis Clinic.

Jeanine Hernandez, BS: Counseling and Testing Coordinator, Michigan Department of Community Health Ms. Hernandez has served as the Coordinator for HAPIS for nine years. She works collaboratively with local health departments and community based organizational staff on a daily basis.

Attendees will receive timely information on key issues of HIV in Michigan. Content will include transmission, high risk behaviors, assessments, prevention and counseling; a review of current MI statistics and high prevalence; discussion of CDC’s recommendations; HIV testing sites for clients and local health department responsibilities; as well as HIV screening recommendations for Title X agencies.
